5 Ways to Engage Students with Digital Signage

5 Ways to Engage Students with Digital Signage

by Esther Chew

Changing Trends in the Education Industry

In the last two years, COVID-19 has forced a sudden closure of schools, disrupting lessons of more than 400 million South Asian children. This “forced” deschooling has prompted educators to adopt novel teaching methods and pivot to remote learning in the shortest possible time.

Besides ensuring that educational content is delivered in a timely manner, educational institutions are also looking for new ways to create a phygital classroom and bring in real-world experiences to increase engagement and interactivity. In addition, they are seeking innovative channels to connect with audiences that are becoming increasingly hard to reach using traditional methods.

Over the next five years, the global digital signage in education market is expected to register a magnificent spike in CAGR in terms of revenue, as more schools and colleges leverage education digital signage to build a modern environment, create phygital spaces, enhance learning and deliver immersive experiences. The Asia-Pacific region, in particular, is projected to grow at the highest CAGR.

Educational Institutions Utilise Digital Signages

The benefits of digital signage for schools are immense and it is changing the way educational institutions interact with staff, students, and visitors.

For example, the Global Indian International School’s SMART Campus offers virtual lessons to help ensure uninterrupted learning during the pandemic. Students are able to log-in and participate in a live, ongoing class in the school through their mobile phone, laptop or iPad. They can view the classroom and its digital smart board and participate in class discussions in real-time.

Ahead, we discuss five ways in which digital signage can help educational institutions to better engage students and create enriched, effective learning environments.

Dr Shivalik K Pathania, Head of the English department at GIIS SMART, said, “Virtual classrooms are very interactive with fully equipped digital smart board displays, easy to use video conferencing, and mics for clearer sound, which enable us to give greater flexibility to students in case they are unable to attend the class due to any reason.”

Communicate important information efficiently

Digital notice boards offer educational institutions an effective platform to reach out to the entire campus population instantaneously in case of any emergency or health alert. At the same time, digital notice boards provide the flexibility to display targeted messaging at designated areas to reach specific audiences on the move.

Information such as examination location or change in schedules can be easily updated and communicated to students in seconds.

Serve More Customers

Spreading your customers across standard checkout and self-service kiosks for retail allows shorter waiting times. This attracts people who want expedited checkout or want to use self-service methods. Additionally, your retail store earns word-of-mouth marketing through shoppers with a positive experience.

Promote interactive learning

Digital signage for schools provides an exceptional hybrid learning experience by enabling real-time interaction between remote instructors and participants.

X2O Media’s virtual classroom technology creates an engaging immersive environment with multiple camera views and enables remote users to participate in everything that is taking place within the live classroom.

Featuring high-definition, bi-directional audio/visual communication, interactive whiteboards, presentation monitors with content sharing and a suite of integrated collaboration tools – X2O Virtual Classroom is designed to facilitate interaction between instructors and participants.

Enable digital wayfinding

Large sprawling campuses can be challenging for new students and visitors to find their way around. Help reduce anxiety and guide new students to their desired destination by placing interactive wayfinding kiosks that offer directions and location maps at lobbies and intersecting hallways.

Motivate and inspire students

Another effective use case of digital signage for schools is displaying motivational and inspiring quotes that create positivity around the school. Introduce quotes from prominent global leaders and popular personalities to inspire and instil values to students, and encourage hard work. Accompanied by vivid imagery, these quotes are sure to grab attention.
