1. Make your content merry and bright

3. Keep the momentum going beyond Christmas

We’ve already seen the retail rush over Thanksgiving in the US and Europe, and Dussehra and Diwali in India and other parts of Asia. Christmas will be no different. In Australia, for example, shoppers are expected to spend over $1,000 on Christmas gift shopping in 2023. But the spending is not expected to stop at Christmas. Over two-thirds of Australian shoppers are expected to take advantage of major sales events including Boxing Day sales, and 80% of people are planning to do at least some of their festive shopping in-store.

Across Asia, Sensormatic predicts that consumers in Australia and New Zealand will complete most of their shopping throughout December, whereas those in mainland China, Hong Kong, and Singapore are expected to start their in-store shopping a little later, on or after Christmas and over New Year. This means retailers should maximise their use of retail digital signage to keep shoppers engaged across the entire holiday period by running more promotions, upselling and cross-selling, and driving incidental purchases through strategic content.
